The U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program is designed to help socially and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs access government contracting opportunities. Certain contracts are limited to businesses participating in the program, which accepts small businesses that are at least 51 percent owned or controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, demonstrate good character, and meet certain other requirements.

This four-part series helps participants gain a better understanding of the 8(a) program and prepare an application to join. Sessions include:

  • Feb. 22Preparations to apply and a documents checklist
  • Feb. 23A deep dive into the application, covering topics such as basic eligibility, business ownership, and control
  • Feb. 24Further information on the application, including potential for success, contributors, disadvantaged individuals, non-disadvantaged individuals, and spouses of disadvantaged individuals
  • Feb. 25Submitting an application, tips, Q&A, and what happens after submission
