Summary by Dirk Langeveld
Americans are encouraged to support minority business enterprises (MBEs) this weekend as part of a larger campaign to celebrate and promote these companies.
The Minority Business Development Agency announced that Buy MBE Day will take place on Saturday, Sept. 25. TMobile for Business is sponsoring the initiative, which is occurring in conjunction with the MBDA’s National Minority Enterprise Development Week, which began Sunday. During this week, MBDA Business Centers and Specialty Centers will host local awareness campaigns about MBEs.
Buy MBE Day was introduced in 2020, encouraging Americans to purchase goods and services from African American, Hispanic, Latino, Asian and Native American entrepreneurs. These businesses have often suffered significant losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
MBDA is also encouraging larger companies to diversify their suppliers and pay MBE suppliers early to help reduce their cash-conversion cycle.
