Connecticut residents looking to pursue a new career in a skilled trade now have a step-by-step guide to assist them.
The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection has released a 28-page guide covering topics such as what to expect in classroom learning and apprenticeships, finding the right apprenticeship for you, licensing with the DCP, and finding a job. The guide is available in seven languages.
The guide was written and produced by the DCP, with assistance from the state’s Department of Labor and Department of Education, as well as current and former tradespeople. The goal of the guide is to help create a more diverse workforce, including opening opportunities for women and historically disadvantaged groups, and offer support for workers as Connecticut recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
