- SCORE Connecticut puts out a call for volunteers
- Volunteers serve as mentors, subject matter experts, workshop presenters, and more
- All volunteers are currently working virtually
Summary by Dirk Langeveld
April is National Volunteer Month, and SCORE Connecticut has responded by putting out a call volunteers with “backgrounds and experiences as diverse as the small business owners they serve.”
SCORE’s volunteer network includes small business owners, former executives at Fortune 500 companies, and others with real world business experience. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Mentors, to share expertise and offer guidance to business owners
- Subject Matter Experts, who collaborate with mentors to offer advice in their area of expertise
- Workshop Presenters, who give presentations on topics that can assist small business owners
- Chapter Support, to assist with marketing, finance, scheduling, and other key support tasks at SCORE chapters
- Diversity Leaders, to make SCORE services more accessible to small business owners in underserved areas
SCORE offers flexible options, and all volunteers are currently working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All interested parties should fill out a questionnaire, which includes information on their professional background and how they would like to assist, to be matched to the nearest SCORE chapter.
