Chartered in 1976 as a chapter of the national Associated Builders and Contractors organization, Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut (CT ABC) is a membership organization representing Merit Shop contractors. This designation, which applies to 80 percent of the state’s construction industry, holds that construction contracts “should be awarded to the lowest responsible, qualified bidder based on merit, regardless of the company’s non-union or union affiliation.” CT ABC is involved in political advocacy, provides numerous educational options, and supports construction safety initiatives.

CT ABC is the recognized advocate and defender of Merit Shop contractors and addresses the unique challenges of our members.

Resources & Services

Education

In conjunction with the Construction Education Center, CT ABC creates more than 50 training and learning opportunities each year. These include classroom events, apprenticeships, webinars, and more.

Safety Resources

Lost productivity, OSHA fines, and workers’ compensation costs can easily ramp up expenses for contractors. CT ABC works to be a leader in workplace safety by providing seminars, certification programs, and other resources to keep construction workers safe.

ABC CT offers regular networking opportunities, updates on legislative issues and business development tools to assist its members.
