About

The Capital Region Development Authority is the driving force in rebuilding – and rebranding – Hartford. They bring large-scale investments to revitalize Hartford’s economy, including sporting events, conventions, and residential development. Overseen by a 14-member board, CRDA seeks to develop and redevelop the Hartford region to attract and retain businesses.

Mission

Stimulating economic development and new investment in and around the Hartford region through housing development, venue management, collaborative rebranding and the facilitation of redevelopment projects in contiguous towns.

Resources & Services

Regional and Economic Development

CRDA provides loans, administers funds, and offers other assistance for economic development initiatives in the Capital Region district as well as contiguous towns. Its activities have ranged from the rehabilitation of abandoned buildings to assisting municipal governments with surveys to make prudent economic development decisions.

Entertainment and Sports Facilities

CRDA operates, maintains, and markets the Connecticut Convention Center and has contractual agreements to manage the XL Center and Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. It coordinates sales and marketing efforts to attract conventions, trade shows, exhibitions, and other major events to these venues.

Housing and Neighborhoods

CRDA supports housing developments that are 80 percent market rate and 20 percent affordable, and designates a portion of its funding for small projects of less than 20 units. Any funding provided by CRDA must be leveraged by private lending and/or equity contributions.
