About

Founded in 1968, Independent Electrical Contractors of New England originally served Connecticut electricians before welcoming Rhode Island and Massachusetts members beginning in 2003. One of 56 chapters of a national trade association, IEC-NE conducts legislative advocacy and offers a variety of resources to its members, including professional development courses and an apprenticeship program.

Resources & Services

Workforce Development

IEC-NE offers more than 600 online courses on matters such as safety, Microsoft courses, business skills, and human resources. It also hosts regular educational events and online OSHA training courses.

Apprenticeship Program

IEC-NE oversees a comprehensive four-year apprenticeship program for electrical contractors in training. The program is based on 720 hours of classroom training and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training, and graduates are eligible for up to 40 credits toward a four-year college degree.

Member Benefits

Members of IEC-NE can partake in any of the organization’s services, including a shared manpower program, surplus equipment or tool sales, service referrals, updates on legislation and industry trends, marketing opportunities, and discounts or improved rates on several products and services.
