About

Automotive retailers are a major component of Connecticut’s retail economy, accounting for more than 14,000 jobs (and a comparable number of indirect jobs) and over $10 billion in annual sales. The Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association, founded in 1921, represents new vehicle dealerships in the state. It participates in legislative advocacy while also supporting community initiatives and offering resources to its members.

Mission

The Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association is a statewide trade association representing over 250 of CT’s franchised new car and truck dealerships.

Resources & Services

Advocacy

CARA represents its members on various policy issues, including franchise laws, affordable financing, and electric vehicles. Its goal is to support best practices that can sustain local auto dealerships.

Community Support

The Connecticut Dealers’ Foundation provides grants to Connecticut nonprofits in areas such as education, arts, culture, and homelessness. CARA also hosts an annual auto show featuring new model year vehicles as well as factory and dealer representatives.

Member Benefits

CARA members receive benefits such as training and networking opportunities, online registration services, and a variety of informational resources.
